APAC GATES and Digital Governance Asia are pleased to submit these

recommendations to the National Science Foundation pursuant to a Federal

Register request for information on the development of an AI Action Plan.

On behalf of the Digital Governance Asia community, we commend Pakistan’s comprehensive National AI Policy and its focus on leveraging AI for national development.

The emphasis on data, skills infrastructure, research and development, and public awareness reflects a practical approach to fostering an AI ecosystem in the national interest.

We encourage the Independent Expert and the UN broadly to emphasize human rights recognition in AI governance mechanisms as they are currently forming in various settings, including at the UN's Global Digital Compact initiative, Summit of the Future, among other initiatives.

We are pleased to provide AI Verify Foundation and IMDA comments on the Proposed Model Governance Framework for Generative AI. We commend the government of Singapore for this initiative to seek comments from a wide range of stakeholders regarding these innovative technologies, the subject of legislation and regulatory scrutiny across the globe.

APAC GATES is pleased to submit these views to the United Nations Advisory Body on AI. We commend the UN's initiative to form a flexible and adaptable advisory body to address the fast moving and important area of AI governance, and we look forward to seeing progress made at the international level to address AI governance at the Summit of the Future and through other UN initiatives such as the Global Digital Compact.
